Policy advocates work in an advisory capacity to provide industry expertise in the continuous development of policies that will contribute to a high-skilled workforce utilizing the Washington State registered apprenticeship framework.
The purpose of this policy and associated guidance is to:
- Provide a system wide framework for employing, recruiting and developing apprentices
- Develop a sustainable funding structure that incentivizes sponsor participation
- Ensure that the legal obligations regarding the employment of apprentices are met
- Develop deliberate and intentional career pathways from K-12 to higher education
The policy will provide increased support and incentive for
- Employers with apprenticeships
- New industries/employers wanting to adopt the apprenticeship model
- Jobseekers and work force agencies
- K12 and CTC system
